Nala is a household organiser for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The short version: Nala has no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and the developer cannot see your data.
Nala is developed by Fred Whitten.

Everything you put into Nala — shopping lists, meal plans, pantry inventories, household names and members' display names, bin collection schedules and notice-board notes — is stored:
There is no Nala account, no Nala server and no Nala database. Your data is held in the private database of your iCloud account. The developer has no access to it and no ability to read, export or recover it.
When you invite someone to a household, Apple's CloudKit sharing creates a private share between your iCloud account and theirs. The people you invite can see everything in that household — lists, meals, bins and notes — and their display name becomes visible to other members. Only people you explicitly invite can access it. You can stop sharing at any time from Manage Home.
Nala does not collect, transmit or store any of the following, anywhere:
Nala contains no third-party SDKs. Nothing is shared with any other company.
Nala asks for these only when you use the feature concerned, and each is optional:
Declining any of these leaves the rest of Nala fully functional.
Nala makes network connections in only two situations:
If your device supports Apple Intelligence, Nala can use the on-device model to check whether a scanned line is really an ingredient. This runs entirely on your device. No recipe text is sent anywhere.
Nala Pro is a one-off purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Nala never sees or stores your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether a purchase exists for your account.
The optional 14-day free trial is tracked by the app itself — a start date stored in your device's settings and your private iCloud key-value storage. It requires no payment details and involves no third party.
Nala is rated 4+ and is safe for family use. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect personal information at all.
Deleting the app removes its data from that device. To remove data from iCloud, delete the household from Manage Home → Households, or remove Nala's data via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device. Because the developer holds no copy, there is nothing to request deletion of from us.
Under the UK GDPR and equivalent laws you have rights of access, correction, deletion and portability. In Nala's case these are satisfied directly: you hold the only copy of your data, in your own iCloud account, and you can view, change, export or delete it at any time from within the app or from iCloud settings.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change and the revised policy will be posted at this URL.
